Influence of pietism a puritanism on modern and contemporary society

Abstract

In this paper the author tries to characterise and compare two concurrently existing religious movements of the modern period – pietism and puritanism. He does so with regard on impact they left on society in their time and with regard on their footprints which are still visible in today’s world. The author points out at different attitudes of both movements in the area of sociopolitical involvement. In this regard the article touches the issue of puritan features of american foreign policy that might be visible throughout the history until today.
