Position of the president in constitutional development Czecho-Slovak Republic (1918-1989)

Abstract

Central topic of this paper – position of the president in constitutional development of Czecho-Slovakia – is timely. Author follows the position of the president. He compares and values contemporary arrangement with historical arrangement (constitutions from 1920, 1939, 1948, 1960, 1992 and acts, which regularize the position of the president). The position of the president in constitutional
development in Czecho-Slovakia was very various. The paper is divided in to seven parts. The second and third part deals with the first Czecho-Slovak Republic (1918-1939). The fourth part treats of the Slovak Republic (1939-1945). In the last two parts (part five and six) the author analyses the period 1948-1989.
